The first most important decision  to the book Shoeless Joe by W.P. Kinsella would have to be the adaptation. This book is already adapted into a really good and well thought out movie. From what I have read so far I can't really spot any differences between the book and movie. I hope there is little to none because the movie is really good. The second most important decision would have to the scenes that would be important to keep. The scene that would be the most important is Ray sitting on the veranda when the ghost announcer announces "If you build it, they will come" and then Ray gets the idea to build a baseball field. The third most important decision would be the casting choices. I think they role of Ray played by Kevin Costner benefits the movie because he seems like the perfect fit as an Iowan farmer. The fourth most important decision would have to be the soundtrack. For the most part almost any song could work for it, but the best ones are the ones that are already in the movie. The songs don't need to be changed. Last but not least the fifth most important decision would have to be the uniqueness of the book. the book has an interesting concept of a ghost coming back and playing baseball as a ghost on a random field in Iowa. For the most part this is kept the same between both adaptions.

Book 1 Project

My idea is a “Shack” related outfit including Kobe 9 © “Pure God” shoes, a custom “Shack” shirt, khaki shorts, and galaxy socks.. I designed the shoes this way because in the book “The Shack” which my outfit is based on, the main character Mack can see the bright pure colors of objects after he is touched by God. “Even in the darkness of the night everything had clarity and shone with halos of light in various hues and shades of color.”(Young 212) The colors are based off of heat vision. So Mack can see the heat coming off everything and can see for miles and miles. He basically has the eyesight of God. That is the reason behind why I called these the “Pure God’s”. The reasoning behind my shirt is that there is a banner on the front saying “The Shack” in yellow writing for the title of the book and it is in yellow because it is a bright color. On the back I have a set of Angel wings because of Mack’s relationship to God and his counterparts in the book. For pants I just a pair of casual khaki shorts. For socks I have just a pair of galaxy socks just cause why not and they look sweet. And because whenever I think of the shack’s location I think of something that is located in the sky, and I was thinking sky socks or galaxy socks and I thought that galaxy socks looked better.
I think my idea will work because the outfit is tied to The Shack with there being pretty much all of the essentials of an outfit. Including a shirt, shoes, socks, and pants. My outfit could broaden the audience of the book by having a nice slick outfit to sport to show your love for the book while still looking preppy and athletic at the same time. My outfit will net attention because it is brightly colored so while wearing it you will stand out more than other people. My idea allows and encourages people who are already fans of the book to stay connected and involved by the author by wearing the outfit that is designed after the book and is incorporated with one of Mack’s abilities; the ability to see bright pure colors as I have mentioned before. This outfit will also help fans stay connected with author by connecting both books by W.M. Paul Young; Crossroads and The Shack. They will help connect by that in both books the main character is literal and is pure. Meaning that they a “clean” or have an innocence for what they do.
Having an outfit that has a shirt that just says “The Shack” might be misleading by possibly stating that it could be an event, or maybe like a family vacation that was memorable, or a religious experience that you had. (Indicated by the angel wings on the back of the shirt). Keeping this in mind I am going to add a caption or a mini two to three word description or sentence saying that this is a book. One thing that could work is having one of those funny “warning” signs. For example a shirt that has a big box on the front that is dark colored. This box is then broken up into a smaller box on top. Leaving two boxes on the shirt. The shirt would probably be either dark colored or really brightly colored.  In the top box it usually says “WARNING” is big capital bold letters usually in red letters with a black colored box. In the bottom box there is usually a statement meant to be funny or stupid. An example would be “WARNING
OFFENSIVE” or something like that where the saying is punny and just meant to be a joke and nothing offensive. W
hat I will use is say
“WARNING

THIS IS A BOOK” or something like that in big red letters exclaiming that it is a book and not just something like I discussed before.

What is a Book?

A book is a paper with words on it. Specific traits for books include two covers  and pages in the middle, techniques to help you learn, words that boggle your mind, conflict, a setting, characters,  a mix of simplicity and mind twisters, and plot twists that can change the course of your day. Only if it’s a good book. If it’s a bad book then throw that garbage out, nobody wants that crap. A person that embodies those traits is almost everybody with prior knowledge up to first grade. A book is like a different life that you can hold.  I agree with Joe Meno in saying that books are still books regardless of what form they are in. Either electronic or on paper. They are still the same thing and relay the same message. To me though I have no problem with reading electronically. Though I do hate reading on Kindle’s because who wants to waste all that money on a thing that you can only read on. And it looks too much like an iPad mini and I often get confused and go up to somebody and say, “Yo, is that an iPad man?” And they just say “No. It’s a kindle” and I’m just like darn design got me thinking that it was an iPad. So that is why I don’t like Kindle’s. I only like to read on Apple devices because they are more versatile and you can do other things while you read, like listen to music. Mainly I think books are just anything that you read words that form a picture in your head and make a new “life’. These are the reasons of what I think a book is or can be.

I read for a slew of reasons. Some of them being for school and some of them being for personal use/knowledge. To be honest I hate reading for school. Reading a book as an entire class is boring and takes forever to finish. I love to read books for myself because I can start and stop on any page that I want, I can read any book that I want. I also don’t have to write reports or have to be metacognitive about what I read. The genre that I like to read is historical fiction/historical. I like knowing about the past and reading eye witness accounts of what actually happened. My historical setting that I like to read about is the military. I like to find out how the military use to operate and how different back then was from now. These are the reasons that I like to read.
